Painting, Printmaking, Photography & Installation
'Art is concerned with our whole being - our memories, our associations and our spirit.'
Born in the West of Scotland in 1986 Victoria Moore is a Dundee based artist that works in a variety of media in an attempt to create a layered multifaceted study of place. Victoria's semi abstract pieces capture the ethereal and immensity of place with an emotional response to her subject matter (rural and urban landscape) that transcends the viewer.
'Come forth into the light of things, let nature be your teacher.' William Wordsworth
It is this element of spiritual liberation as expressed by the Transcendentalists of the 1800's that remains a strong influence in her work. Inspired by Casper David Freidrich, JMW Turner, Wordworth and the writings of Yi Fu Tuan Victoria's main objective when composing a piece is to capture the spirit of place.
When composing an artwork Victoria's meticulous and layered approach in recording and documenting her subject begins with photography, text and sketches that are then interpreted, exaggerated and abstracted into an artwork (that can take the form of a painting, print or video) that captures a contemporary approach to a Wordsworthian landscape.
